As its mission to be at the forefront of increasing the level of awareness for Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) and related disorders, the Alzheimer’s Disease Association of the Philippines goes to the different regions of the country to create a framework for positive engagement between ADAP and clinicians, paramedical personnel, senior citizens NGOs, policy makers, caregivers and people with dementia for integration of dementia care to general health care.
This year, in celebration of the National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Week (every 3rd week of September), ADAP goes to Bacolod City (western Visayas region) on September 22 – 24.
ADAP will be holding:
On September 24 ADAP will hold its annual “Memory Walk”, to be one with the world in celebrating World Alzheimer’s Day from 6:30 am to 8:00 am through the major streets of Bacolod City. (Registration starts at 5:30 am at the assembly point at Robinson’s) Every one (young and old) is invited to join the “Memory Walk”. Groups can pre-register by sending an e-mail to adap@alzphilippines.com
The walk ends at the Provincial Capitol for “hataw morning exercise”, then on to the Multi-purpose gym for the “Dementia Lay Forum” at 9:00 am. Snacks will be provided.
Simultaneous with the walk/lay forum, ADAP will conduct screening tests for diabetes, osteoporosis and dementia for the elderlies pre-screened by the barangay health workers from 8:00 am to 12noon.
